His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved measures to address cases benefiting from social assistance provided by the Sharjah Social Services Department, aiming to ensure a decent standard of living and raise monthly financial aid to AED 17,500.
The approved measures cover 4,237 cases at a total annual cost of AED 404,940,624. They also include addressing 560 employment requests, handling 672 housing rental cases, and following up on housing construction requests across cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, in continuation of His Highness’s directives to increase monthly financial assistance.
Beneficiary Categories
The social support programme benefits several categories, including senior citizens (3,126 cases), widows (134 cases), divorced women (877 cases), and low-income individuals aged between 45 and 59 with two or more dependents (100 cases). Implementation will begin in Sharjah city, followed by the rest of the emirate’s cities and regions.
Distribution Across Cities
Sharjah city includes 2,415 cases at an annual cost exceeding AED 231 million. Khorfakkan accounts for 513 cases costing around AED 50 million annually, while Kalba has 588 cases at a cost of approximately AED 57 million. Dibba Al Hisn includes 248 cases with an annual cost of about AED 23 million, and Al Dhaid records 173 cases costing AED 16.4 million annually.
Support in Other Regions
Across the emirate’s regions, 116 cases in Al Madam will benefit at a cost exceeding AED 11 million annually. In Mleiha, 59 cases will be supported at an annual cost of nearly AED 6 million, while Al Bataeh includes 42 cases costing AED 3.5 million annually. Al Hamriyah accounts for 83 cases at an annual cost of AED 7.7 million.
