The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah has announced updated travel regulations requiring a mandatory PCR Covid-19 test for all travellers, both citizens and residents, arriving and exiting through Sharjah International Airport, not earlier than 72 hours before the date of travel. Earlier the pre-travel PCR Covid-19 test had been valid for 96 hours. The implementation of the regulations begins five days after its publication.
The updated procedures stipulated that the test result of arriving travellers be negative and that they undertake another PCR test after arriving at the ports of entry in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The authorities pointed out that the updated travel procedures and requirements for international travellers, both citizens and residents, stem from the Emirate's keenness to preserve the safety and wellbeing of all community members in accordance with the UAE’s health safety measures and regulations that are aimed at stopping the spread of the Coronavirus.
The guidelines issued by the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management team in Sharjah for travellers going abroad include conducting a PCR test within 72 hours before the date of travel and adhering to the preventive measures followed in the countries of destination including having adequate health insurance when travelling overseas.
