Commenting on the incident, Colonel Abdul Latif Ibrahim Al Ghroubti, Director of the Al Buhaira Police Station, said: "On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 4:30 pm, we received a report from the Central Operations Room that a body has been found under a building in Al Khan area. Immediately, Police, Anjad, forensic laboratory, criminal investigation, national ambulance and rescue units, as well as an investigating officer from Al Buhaira Police Station arrived at the scene,” he said.

Preliminary examination revealed that the body belonged to an African woman (30) who had fallen from the 19th floor of the building. Investigation is still underway to determine the circumstances and causes of the incident. The public prosecutor has ordered that the body be transferred to the forensic laboratory for further examination.

Meanwhile the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) has called on the media in the country to be accurate and responsible in their reporting about such incidents and always refer to the concerned authorities for accurate facts while covering all issues of public importance. 

The Bureau also drew the media’s attention to the campaign that Sharjah authorities and various government departments and entities in the Emirate have unveiled to promote public awareness about ensuring safety in high-rise residential buildings and prevent tragedies like these.
