The Sharjah Press Club, operating under the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), organised a field visit for a delegation of local and international journalists participating in the Xposure International Photography Festival 2026 to the Mleiha Dairy Factory. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to engage global media attending Xposure 2026 and to highlight Sharjah’s strategic development and food security projects.
A fully integrated system
The tour included visits to the cow barns and rotary milking parlour, followed by the factory facilities and production lines. Media representatives were introduced to the complete production ecosystem, beginning with animal healthcare and natural feeding practices, moving through advanced milking technologies, and concluding with processing and packaging stages carried out under strict quality and food safety standards.
Highlighting manufacturing and quality control
Journalists also visited the Visitor Centre, where they were briefed on the stages of dairy manufacturing, starting with pasteurisation and filtration, followed by labneh production areas and fermentation tanks, and ending with automated filling machines and ready-for-distribution zones. The tour highlighted the role of the central control room in monitoring production operations, regulating temperatures, and managing production flow to ensure consistency and compliance with the highest health standards.
On-Site briefings on technology and sustainable practices
The delegation was accompanied by Razan Fahad Al Hammadi, Director of the Green Development Department at the Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Lamia Al Suwaidi, an agricultural extension specialist and a member of the Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock and the farm and production supervision teams. They provided detailed explanations of production mechanisms, applied technologies, and the sustainable practices implemented across both the farm and factory, and their contribution to strengthening Sharjah’s food security ecosystem.
Mleiha as a global model for food security
Commenting on the visit, Razan Fahad Al Hammadi said: “We extend our deepest gratitude to the Sharjah Government Media Bureau for organising such visits and welcoming media delegations to the Mleiha Dairy Factory. These tours are an important opportunity to showcase projects of this significance, reaffirming Sharjah’s leading position within the food security ecosystem and its role in providing safe, healthy food. Projects such as the Mleiha Dairy Farm represent a globally leading model, not only locally but internationally, standing as exceptional success stories that have proven their resilience despite challenges, with products now widely available in the market.”
Advanced capacity and production capabilities
During the visit, participants were introduced to the factory’s infrastructure, which spans 20,000 square metres and has a total production capacity of approximately 600 tonnes. The tour also highlighted the advanced digital systems used to monitor quality and control production processes.
Media representatives also learned about the Mleiha Dairy Farm, officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest A2A2 cow farm. The farm is home to more than 6,495 cows and produces nearly 100,000 litres of fresh milk daily, operating within a system based on natural animal healthcare, organic nutrition, and best environmental sustainability practices.
The farm includes an integrated production support infrastructure, comprising two main milking parlours, an organic feed-mixing facility, water purification stations, cow waste treatment units, two laboratories serving the farm and the factory, a compost production facility, and approximately 400 hectares dedicated to organic fodder cultivation. The farm is also implementing future expansion plans aimed at increasing herd size in the coming years, strengthening its capacity to meet local market demand and expand the presence of its products across Gulf markets.
Strengthening media engagement through Xposure 2026
This visit aligns with the objectives of the Sharjah Press Club (SPC) to provide journalists and media professionals participating in Xposure International Photography Festival 2026 with first-hand access to Sharjah’s leading development experiences. The initiative supports accurate and balanced coverage for regional and international audiences and reinforces the role of media as a key partner in highlighting sustainable development efforts, while positioning Sharjah as a progressive model across vital sectors.
