The Sharjah Press Club, an initiative of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, organised a familiarisation tour of the coastal city of Khorfakkan for a group of journalists and media professionals participating in the ninth edition of the International Government Communication Forum, being held on March 4 - 5, at the Expo Center Sharjah.
Around 30 journalists representing media from across the Arab world participated in the tour, which included Al Shees area, Rafaisa Dam, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transportation, Khorfakkan, the Resistance Monument, the Rabi Tower, the Adwani Tower, the Old Town, the Khorfakkan Fort and the Khorfakkan Beach etc.
The city of Khorfakkan, located on the East Coast of Sharjah, is called the "Bride of the East Coast", and is admired for its picturesque landscape, beautiful beaches and cultural heritage, attracting tourists and visitors from across the country throughout the year.
On this occasion, Arab journalists lauded the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for preserving history, heritage and rich Arab culture through his writings that enhance the intergenerational link with their past and the legacy of their ancestors.
Ayman Al-Ali, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Kuwait News Agency, expressed his happiness over the familiarisation tour of the historical city of Khorfakkan and its rich history. Khaled bin Saleh Al-Zadjali, head of the audio section at the Public Authority for Radio and Television in Oman, pointed out that HH Ruler of Sharjah has made the Emirate an epitome of Arab heritage and culture.
Mohamed Abdel Hafez, Editor-in-Chief of Akher Sasa magazine, Egypt, also stressed that Sharjah and its cities are an essential and important pillar of Arab history and civilization, and that visiting the city of Khorfakkan, its monuments and picturesque attractions and ancient culture has been an incredible experience. He lauded HH Ruler of Sharjah for reserving authentic Arab history and defining it regionally and globally
It is worth noting that Sharjah Press Club is participating in the 9th edition of International Government Communication Forum, organised by the International Government Communication Centre, a subsidiary of SGMB, with two special sessions dealing with "the future of news" and "the media image of Arab societies in the West" in addition to a dialogue session that will see Arab information ministers interact with media and communication students from universities across the country.
