The tour included field visits to major attractions and landmark projects in the emirate including the Sharjah Light Festival, Sharjah Art Biennial, Sharjah Heritage Days and the Mleiha Wheat Farm, in addition to the archaeological sites that bear witness to the emirate’s rich ancient history.

The global media learnt about the series of historical, developmental, and artistic projects undertaken by the emirate reflecting its vision based on sustainability, culture, heritage and arts.

HE Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, stressed the Bureau's keenness to boost communication with the global media stakeholders and showcase the emirate's pioneering development and cultural experience before the world in order to enhance cooperation and cultural and civilisational interaction with various communities around the world.  

She noted that the tour is an ideal opportunity for international journalists to explore the emirate's projects up close and learn about Sharjah's unique identity, development efforts and future vision.

Members of the media delegation thanked the hosts for the fascinating tour that has helped them learn about Sharjah's rich cultural and developmental experience and historic projects. They lauded the emirate's groundbreaking projects and initiatives that reflect its exceptional vision for sustainable development and its keenness to preserve its cultural identity in line with modern developments.

The reporters and editors voiced their appreciation for the efforts of the Emirate in supporting arts, sustainability and preserving heritage, stressing that the experience will help convey a positive and realistic image of Sharjah's developmental journey and its various achievements to the world.

Sustainable Food Security

The Sharjah Press Club briefed the international media delegation on the emirate's efforts to enhance food security and agricultural sustainability through groundbreaking initiatives such as the Mleiha Wheat Farm.

The Mleiha Wheat Farm received the Future Readiness Mark, which is awarded to federal and local institutions that design and implement exceptional projects; in appreciation of the achievements made by the farm in enhancing future readiness capabilities of the country in the food security sector.

The visiting delegation learnt about the latest technologies in irrigation and organic agriculture, in addition to the use of artificial intelligence systems in crop management to achieve high productivity while preserving the environment.

The use of modern technologies contributed to saving 30% of irrigation water. The farm uses the latest smart agricultural machines that contribute to increasing production, preserving the environment, and achieving sustainable growth.

During the visit to the farm, Sharjah's efforts to enhance food security and maintain environmental balance were discussed, through unique projects that rely on the circular economy.

Rich history

The tour also included a visit to archaeological sites to introduce the international media to the emirate's historical and archaeological treasures, including the Mleiha Archaeological Site, which bears witness to a deep-rooted history and includes important archaeological discoveries that shed light on the civilizations that inhabited the region. They also learnt about the efforts made by the competent authorities to restore and maintain these sites to preserve them for future generations.

Sharjah Light Festival

The visit included an evening tour of the Sharjah Light Festival sites. Members of the delegation enjoyed watching the dazzling lighting shows that decorate Sharjah's landmarks using the latest optical technologies. The festival celebrates creativity and art through light designs inspired by local heritage and culture, which adds a special character to Sharjah's nights.

The media expressed their amazement at the high artistic and technical level of the festival, which has become one of the most prominent global events in the field of light arts.

Sharjah Biennial

To explore the contemporary art scene in the region, the delegation visited the 16th Sharjah Art Biennial, which is considered one of the most important artistic platforms in the Arab world, and brings together the works of local and international artists under the title "Our Journeys".

The media had the opportunity to interact with the participating artists and learn about the issues raised by the artworks, which included various human, cultural and social concerns.

Sharjah Heritage

The media delegation also paid a visit to Sharjah Heritage Days festival, which is one of the most prominent events celebrating the Emirati and Arab folk heritage.

The guests learned about folk arts, traditional crafts, traditional costumes, and Emirati foods, in a festive atmosphere that reflects the spirit of authenticity and ancient traditions.

The visitors lauded the event for preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region and passing it on to future generations.
