The meeting took place at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies (Dara) to discuss a number of cultural issues between Sharjah Cultural Institutions and USA Library of Congress.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation to support the culture in the Emirate of Sharjah, and to enhance communication with various cultural institutions around the world.
During the meeting, Sharjah Ruler and Dr. Carla Hayden sparked light on Sharjah’s various libraries in all cities and regions of the emirate, which include millions of books and titles that form a cultural source and a scientific reference for readers and researchers.
For her part, Librarian of Congress praised Sharjah's tangible cultural effort under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi through launching international events such as the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) and other exhibitions and conferences.
After the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Librarian of Congress and her accompanying delegation, toured (Dara) to acquaint with the cultural treasures of His Highness about the history of the Arab Gulf and the achievements of Muslim scholars, in addition to a group of photos of His Highness with various heads and leaders of countries and the awards he won over the past years.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed bin Rakad Al Ameri, Chairman of Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), Meghan Gregonis U.S Consul General , along with a number of officials.
