Sharjah Government Media Bureau organises the Sharjah Government Communication Award, in its thirteenth edition for 2026, with the purpose of enhancing the communications sector by promoting initiatives and campaigns across three categories. The efforts utilise communication to support development, improve the quality of life, and empower society. The initiative views communication as a partner in decision-making and a tool for sustainable impact.

Best Innovation in Integrated Communications
The Innovation in Integrated Communication System category recognises government agencies, international organisations, and public or semi-governmental institutions excelling in creating and developing integrated communication systems. These systems play a vital role in achieving strategic objectives, improving the quality of communication with the public and stakeholders, and enhancing overall institutional performance.
The category also celebrates institutions that have integrated strategy, governance, innovation, and modern technologies into an integrated communication system, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of corporate communication, raising trust levels, improving the public experience, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Outstanding Communication Award for a Higher Quality of life
The “Outstanding Communication Award for a Higher Quality of Life” category honours Sharjah government entities that have leveraged strategic communication to advance initiatives, policies, and services to enhance overall quality of life, highlighting governments’ role in communications in fostering community well-being.
The category includes initiatives that focus on sustainability, health, education, food security, the environment, and community services. It also includes projects aimed at improving community engagement and building public agencies/citizens trust. They create effective communication strategies for everyone involved. These initiatives are important for shaping public policies, improving services, and making a real difference in society.
Best Innovative Communication Initiative for Community Empowerment
The award features a category for "Best Innovative Communication Initiative for Community Empowerment." recognising agencies, whether government or private, that have implemented innovative communication initiatives to empower communities, enhance participation, improve quality of life, and promote social responsibility, cooperation, and solidarity.
This category acknowledges initiatives that adopt creative methodologies to address social and humanitarian issues. These initiatives promote volunteer work, build strong partnerships, and create new solutions that positively impact society. They also help different groups in the community connect and interact better.
This year's award includes 23 categories grouped into five main sectors, consisting of awards for government agencies and international organisations, individual awards, innovators competition in smart communication awards, and jury and partner awards. This selection highlights the various areas of communication and celebrates the rich diversity of practices in the industry.
In the last edition, over 2,600 entries came in from many countries around the world. From these, more than 600 entries from 37 different countries were selected for the first round of judging. Eventually, 170 entries were chosen for the final evaluation. This shows that the award is gaining a stronger international reputation and serves as a great platform for sharing ideas and highlighting effective communication in government and institutions.
