The UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah events and activities, being held from February 8 to 14 at the Sharjah Book Authority in Al Zahia neighbourhood, have been attracting throngs of visitors, families and school and college students.
The day fourth of the festival of innovation saw the spotlight on a number of innovations and futuristic ideas as well as number of interactive workshops showcasing the products, solutions and initiatives being produced in Sharjah and the UAE in line with the UAE leadership’s vision and strategy to make the United Arab Emirates a global destination for innovation and ingenuity.
Google Workshops on AI
Technology and Internet giant Google participated in the fourth day of the event with two workshops -- "Artificial Intelligence is the Future" and “Club Google of Student Developers”. While the first addressed the growing role of Artificial Intelligence applications in daily life, and how they can be used to develop various sectors, the second one discussed about developing a student club that focuses on the latest Google technologies.
Future of Higher Education
The workshop “Shaping the Future of Higher Education with Dell’s Technology Solutions” discussed the importance of enabling higher education institutions to contribute to shaping the future of the UAE in the era of digital transformation.
Pharma Global workshop tackled “Challenges to Digitising the Drug Market in the Middle East and North Africa. It discussed challenges, lessons learned, milestones and how to shorten this transitional period for the pharmaceutical market in order to provide effective solutions with information technology. Digitisation is the next golden age for the pharmaceutical and healthcare market worldwide.
Protection from Data Leakage
Infowatch presented a workshop entitled "How to protect your company from data leakage" discussing the mechanisms and methods of protecting corporate information and data.
Another workshop by Emirates NBD titled "Fun in Data Science", saw the attendees being trained in understanding of descriptive statistics in a fun and practical way from the exercise papers while avoiding misinterpretation of statistical tests and graphs and charts.
Sharjah Police on Innovation
The General Command of Sharjah Police tackled "Innovation and the challenges of traffic congestion in the future" during a workshop. It came up with innovative solutions to confront traffic congestion. Another workshop titled "Innovation Lab on the challenges of the national agenda" defined the national agenda, highlighting the theme of "Uniting Fate/Safe Society and a Fair Judiciary." It discussed the challenges facing the country in general and leadership in particular in facing challenges to achieve the goals of the National Agenda 2021.
Skipper Concept by Sharjah International Airport
Sharjah International Airport’s Department of Training and Professional Development, introduced participants to the ‘Skipper’ concept and how to think outside the box using creative tools to generate new and innovative ideas.
Sharjah Municipality
Sharjah Municipality organised three workshops. The first one on "Atmo innovation", discussed creating an atmosphere that stimulates innovation in society through three axes: a) interior design and the selection of appropriate colours, b) the surrounding environment and c) the energy of the place.
The second workshop titled " Innovative Engineer", featured activities suitable for children such as the tower crane and its method of use in addition to tablets for building design and other activities.
The workshop titled "Recycling in innovative ways" aimed to educate children on the importance of reuse and recycling of used products and parts like tyres in innovative ways to preserve the environment.
Programing Brain into Innovative Thinking
The Ideology Training Institute highlighted "Innovative Thinking" in a workshop helping the participants learn about the process of creative thinking and how to program the brain out from the perspective of traditional thinking to creative and innovative thinking to come up with innovative and unique solutions.
Sharjah Archaeology Authority
The Sharjah Archaeology Authority showcased its latest project "Archaeology 46", which is a hologram that displays the most important archaeological finds in the Emirate of Sharjah, highlighting the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
WhatsApp Service
The Social Services Department participated in the "WhatsApp Service" project, through which communicates with "hotlines" of various departments through the WhatsApp application.
Design Your Home
The ‘Design Your Home’ project by the Department of Housing allows citizens to choose and modify the house model from among the various models previously prepared by the Department of Housing in Sharjah, so that citizens are involved in choosing their future home.
Harouf
"Horouf" participated in the Innovation Week with an application that helps children learn the Arabic language with ease and in a fun manner.
The activities of the fourth day were attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Founding Excellence in the Real Estate Registration Directorate, Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police, Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, and HE Abdul Aziz Ahmed Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Directorate.
More than 80 Sharjah and UAE government organisations, universities and local and international companies are taking part in the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah activities showcasing the best of futuristic innovations, life-changing ideas and scientific advances shaping the future and offering ease of living to residents.
