A high-level delegation of the Sharjah Consultative Council visited the offices of Sharjah Government Media Bureau today (Wednesday, December 20).

HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) and other senior officials received the delegation led by HE Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary General of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC).

On this occasion, the two sides discussed the ongoing cooperation between the Bureau and the Council, and explored ways of expanding it further in other areas. They underscored the importance of all government departments and entities working together for the sake of providing better services and enhanced governance experience for Sharjah’s citizens and residents.

It is worth noting that the Bureau has offered media support to Sharjah’s highest consultative and legislative body from time to time, including during the historic elections held in January, 2016.

Speaking on the occasion, HE Tariq Saeed Allay emphasised the Bureau’s keenness to work with all Sharjah government entities and departments and help them in their effective engagement with the media.  He briefed the visiting delegation on the various activities and events of the Bureau such as the high-profile annual event, International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), Xposure International Photography Festival and the immensely popular Sharjah Ramadan Majlis.

The SGMB Director also familiarised the guests with various entities and sections of the Bureau and their activities during a tour of the Bureau’s offices.  He briefed them on Sharjah 24, the popular Arabic and English news portal hosted by the SGMB as well as the International Government Communication Centre (IGCC) that is dedicated to research and study of the discipline of government communication.

The guests also visited the Sharjah Press Club (SPC), which offers an ideal working and networking environment for all journalists, public relations and media professionals and staff of government media departments in the Emirate. They were briefed about Al Majaz Amphitheatre, the Roman colosseum style open-air theatre and one-of-a-kind facility in the heart of Khalid Lagoon of Sharjah, which is managed by the SGMB.

Al Majaz Amphitheatre with its latest audio-visual facilities is ideally suited for hosting world-class music concerts and entertainment shows and has come up with a number of such events over the past 4 years or so.  It also hosts Ramadan Majlis sessions during the holy month.

The visiting dignitaries lauded the SGMB’s constant efforts to enhance Sharjah’s profile on the global media map.
