AED 100,000 Award to Consolidate Concept of Innovation in Sharjah

The committee overseeing the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah today (Sunday) held an introductory meeting on the Sharjah Innovation Award, open for registration since its inception until January 2, 2020.

The Sharjah Innovation Award is worth AED 100,000, of which AED 50,000 is allocated to the first winner, AED 30,000 to the second and AED 20,000 to the third.

 

The upcoming edition of the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah is scheduled to run from February 8-14, 2020. Registration will be open from November 24 to January 2, 2020 and participating entities will be announced on January 30, 2020.

 

Held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the meeting discussed developments of the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah, which over its previous editions aimed at engaging government entities in Sharjah, while encouraging participation from academic institutions and the private sector. The event resulted in a variety of outputs that help stimulate innovation and transform it into a societal culture and a government action approach in line in line with the vision of the national innovation strategy.

 

Ahmed Saif bin Saed, member of the committee overseeing the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah, gave a detailed presentation on the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah, clarifying the criteria for evaluating government initiatives that target the different segments of society.

 

The meeting stressed the importance of the creative element in projects participating in the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah, as well as other elements, including saving money, time and effort.

Saeed Al Hammadi, member of the committee overseeing the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah, highlighted the mechanisms, categories and criteria of the Sharjah Innovation Award, which seeks to empower innovation as a way of life towards the achievement of comprehensive, sustainable development.

 

The Award also aims to consolidate the concept of innovation, develop creative solutions to address challenges, economise on human potential and material resources, and encourage Sharjah citizens and residents to put forward creative ideas and innovations.

 

The Award targets students of Sharjah's academic institutions, employees of government, semi-government and private departments and holders of Sharjah family books.

 

Finalists for the Award will be revealed on January 30, 2020, while winners will be announced on February 13, 2020.
