Legendary Lebanese composer Marcel Khalife and Algerian singer/songwriter Souad Massi are all set to deliver a rousing musical performance in the UAE on Friday, March 13, 2020, at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Sharjah’s iconic destination for prestigious cultural events and concerts.
#letsmajaz season will see Marcel Khalife, showcase the best of Arab musical heritage with Souad Massi, Algerian Berber singer, songwriter and guitarist, in a high-energy concert featuring top hits from their respective musical repertoire.
Khalife is a revered Oud master with a nearly 50-year musical career and is well known for his powerful, poetic music that are at the heart of several protest songs and political ballads. Sensitive, artistic and thoughtful, many of Khalife’s songs are adapted from the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish’s poems, such as The Passport, Rita and Riffle and Ahmed Al Arabi. Other songs have been inspired by the works of Persian poet Al Hallaj, Bahraini poet Qassim Haddad, Lebanese poet Talal Haidar, and others.
The March 13 performance at Al Majaz Amphitheatre will be Khalife’s second appearance at this landmark entertainment destination.
Massi will mark her debut at Al Majaz with her lyric-driven melancholic ballads that explore sentiments of betrayal, exile and loss. Her honest, heartfelt folk songs are anchored in current events, love of Algeria, and freedom and incorporates both western and oriental musical influences and instruments.

This season of #letsmajaz ends its run at the open-air Al Majaz Amphitheatre, located in the heart of Al Majaz in Khalid lagoon, in April 2020.
