The second edition of the Sharjah Events Festival, organised by the Sharjah Events website of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau under the slogan, “#SeeSharjah” concluded Sunday at Al Majaz Amphitheatre. The 4-day event had been a huge success attracting more than 34,000 visitors from various segments of society.
The festival saw the formal launch of the Sharjah Events agenda for the Year 2023, promising bouquet of year-long activities and attractions, including entertainment, artistic and creative shows, workshops and rewarding competitions by government and private organisations in the Emirate.
The Sharjah Events agenda seeks to attract more visitors to the Emirate and showcase the shining and civilised face of Sharjah, strengthening its position as a preferred destination for families and visitors as well as the community to spend their quality time in a safe and welcoming environment for both residence and investment.
This edition of the Sharjah Events Festival will be remembered for highlighting the young Emirati talents who participated in a number of creative shows and special projects. The beloved festival mascot, ‘Saqr’ warmly welcomed the visitors and interacted with young people through various interactive games and entertainment shows. The giant model of the thinking man, "The Man", the installation artwork by the artist Amanda Barrier, floating in the Khalid Lagoon, welcoming visitors to Al Majaz Amphitheatre, had been another major attraction.
On the third day of the festival, Al Majaz Amphitheatre received a large audience to witness the brilliance of the artist Tariq Al-Arabi of ‘Tarqan and Sons,’ who presented a lyrical synthesis of the famous cartoon series on the Future Youth channel, "Spacetoon".
HE Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, said the Sharjah Events Festival this year witnessed a great turnout of families from across Sharjah and the UAE with the number of visitors over four days crossing more than 34,000.
“We felt the joy of families and children and they shared the carnival atmosphere of the festival by participating in various fun activities, programmes, workshops and performances featuring art, music, singing, games, heritage and sports. The festival helped presented knowledge and science to children in an attractive and entertaining way,” Al Suwaidi said.
