Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Office, attended on Thursday morning the ceremony honouring the winners of the Sharjah Holy Quran and Sunnah Award in its 28th edition. Organised by the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, the event was held at Al Qasimia University Theatre.

The ceremony opened with the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Sultan Matar bin Dalmouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi for attending and honouring the winners.

Bin Dalmouk praised the constructive cooperation that has contributed to the success of the Establishment’s programmes and the distinguished level of participants. He noted that the award has become a beacon of excellence, a motivation for fair competition, and a means of instilling authentic Islamic values in children and youth through its diverse branches, which combine mastery of the Holy Quran with following the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in knowledge and conduct. He added that the participants’ outstanding results reflect blessed efforts and sincere cooperation among families, various institutions, supervisors, teachers, and supporters.

He congratulated the male and female winners, noting that this edition introduced the category of Quranic readings: the recitation of Asim, along with the complete Al-Jazariyyah text, including its supplementary verses, for both males and females. A total of 1,103 participants from across the UAE took part; 482 qualified for the final rounds, and 131 winners were selected across all branches of the award, in addition to 12 winners in the accompanying activities.

Attendees watched a visual presentation highlighting the Establishment’s role in the award’s success and its development over the years, as one of the leading platforms dedicated to the Holy Quran. The presentation also showcased the award’s contribution to nurturing young people through a structured approach and encouraging memorisation. The audience also listened to selected recitations by two of the winners.

Dr Salem Mohammed Al Duwabi, Head of the Judging Committee for the Prophetic Sunnah category, delivered a speech praising the Establishment’s long-standing efforts in organising the award and honouring its winners, which encourages participants and motivates them to memorise the Holy Quran and the noble Prophetic Hadiths, making them exemplary role models. He also expressed his gratitude to fathers, mothers, and guardians for supporting their sons and daughters, who in turn serve as role models for their siblings and peers.

Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi then honoured the winners of the 28th edition, male and female, presenting shields and certificates of appreciation to the recipients in the Holy Quran competition across its categories, including the Imams and Quran instructors category (complete memorisation), the Asim recitation category (with the complete Al-Jazariyyah text and its supplementary verses), and the general categories: complete memorisation, twenty parts, ten parts (citizens), ten parts (residents), five parts (citizens), and five parts (residents), in addition to categories for senior citizens (male and female) and the “mother memoriser” category for females.
