Al Majaz Amphitheatre in the emirate of Sharjah is set to host the Arabic play “Al-Zeer Salem” for three consecutive days, starting January 23, 2026, in a monumental production that revives one of the most significant epics in Arab heritage.
The play presents a contemporary stage interpretation of the well-known Arab epic, focusing on its universal themes and human struggles, rather than retelling it as traditional legend.
Tickets for the show are now available for purchase via platinumlist.net, offering a range of options designed to accommodate all audiences.
The production features a leading cast of prominent Arab actors, including Bassem Yakhour, Abed Fahd, Salloum Haddad, and Amal Mohamed. The script, written by Othman Juha, is brought to the stage under the direction of Salloum Haddad.
Based on the events of the Basus War, the play follows the story of Al-Zeer Salem, also known as Abu Layla Al-Muhalhel, and his pursuit of vengeance for the killing of his brother, Kaleeb. This narrative explores the internal conflict between revenge and justice, while maintaining the poetic and historical character of the original epic.
The staging will incorporate a movable set that adapts to the progression of the events, alongside Arabic musical compositions, lighting, and sound effects that support the dramatic structure of the performance.
Running for 120 minutes with an intermission, the play will deliver a compelling theatrical experience for audiences interested in Arab theatre and cultural heritage.
The production of “Al-Zeer Salem” forms part of ongoing efforts to support the theatre scene, showcasing works inspired by Arab heritage with a new perspective.
Entry to the theatre begins at 7:00 pm, with the performance starting at 8:30 pm.
