Sharjah has always been a pioneering force in the development of all cultural avenues, and photography is no exception. Xposure International Photography Festival, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), kicks off tomorrow until November 24 at Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme, ‘Inspiring Moments.’ The third edition of Xposure will be collating photographs from a variety of themes that will stir the soul, from historical moments, world travels, environmentalism, abstract photography, to social issues like the refugee crisis.

 

One of the biggest inspirational events, Xposure 2018 is a global platform that will provoke, and create a profound understanding of world situations. Visitors can expect to be wrapped in engaging exhibitions, workshops, talks, and one-on-one chats with renowned photographers across diverse genres. Every event has a story to tell, made up of moments that are shared between all present, and below are snippets of some ‘inspiring moments’ that you can expect from Xposure 2018.

Exhibitions by award-winning photographers like Essdras M Suarez, Douglas Dubler, Drew Altdoerffer, Lawrence Jackson, and many more will be featuring a selection of photos that will have visitors either wondering about the best and worst that the human spirit can offer or pondering over the ironic consequence of technology which connects us in an instant as well as draw us far apart.

An extensive and varied selection of educational photography courses and programmes will be conducted at the venue for beginners, intermediates, and advanced photographers. Creative Framing, Drone Photography and Photography for Image Libraries are some of the few workshops to be expected.

 

18 Inspiring Talks

 

Leading photographers and artists will be sharing their tales and inspirations. Talks about Traces of Light, Save the Salt, Art of Travel Photography, Life & Death of the Forest and others will be conducted to inspire and transport visitors to another world.

 

Focus Group Discussions

 

Discussions with Lawrence Jackson, Keith Berr, Chris Coe, Nisha Purushothaman, Douglas Dubler, Don McCullin, Essdras M Suarez, and Philip Lee Harvey will be conducted, where audiences can immerse into intimate and open-ended talks as well as a qualitative Q&A session.

 

Melting Memories Art Installation & 360 Bullet Studio

 

An augmented data sculpture will be shown in the region for the first time by media artist Refik Anadol, taking viewers inside the human brain. A visually exciting 360-degree bullet studio by Eric Pare will also be on display.

On the sidelines of Xposure, visitors can explore leading technologies by experts who will provide information and demonstrations to push your skills over the edge.
