As part of the immensely popular ongoing event, Sharjah Ramadan Majlis, which is being held during the Holy month of Ramadan, The third session of Majlis’ sessions , "Local Football ... Reality and Opportunities" , was launched last night (Monday, April 26 ), to turn spotlight on state and challenges of football at the local level .
Hosted by the Sharjah Press Club of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the sport session, took place at Ittihad Kalba Sports and Cultural Club, to tackle a spectrum of challenges in the football field in UAE.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council; HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Khaled Al Naqbi, Executive Director of the football company at Ittihad Kalba Sports and Cultural Club attended the session which was led by Youssef Al Sahlawi, Second Vice President of the Emirates Football Association and Chairman of the Teams and Technical Affairs Committee, and Captain Nawaf Mubarak, former player of UAE national football team, besides a number of invitees. The session was moderated by Tariq Al Hammadi.
At the outset of the sport session, speakers pointed out to the rapid development that has been witnessed in Kalba at all levels; due to several development projects launched by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which have played a key role in pushing the wheel of progress in Kalba and positively impacted on all sectors of the city especially the sports field.
Youssef Al Sahlawi, appreciated the unlimited support provided by the wise leadership of UAE to the sports institutions especially the most commonly known sport game, the football. Al Sahlawi shined light on the great attention that UAE has paid for the football sector, which has played a key role in motivating players in order to record additional achievements to be added to UAE’s accomplishments list.
For his part, Nawaf Mubarak sparked light on the reality of football in the local level nowadays and its constant changes due to the global crisis, which has imposed several challenges on the football team’s training programmes especially on the new generation of football teams.
At the end of the session, speakers underscored the importance of providing great support to the national football team at the qualifies of the upcoming World Cup in order to achieve best results and raise the UAE’s profile in the sporting world.
