Deadline to Take Part in Sharjah Innovation Award Extended to January 16th

-- The UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah Committee announced Wednesday, December 18, the extension of deadline for participation in the prestigious Sharjah Innovation Award, launched by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council of Sharjah in November, until January 16th.

HE Ahmed Al Qasir, Chairman of the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah Committee, said: “The Sharjah Innovation Award, which is generously patronised and supported by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Sharjah, is aimed at supporting and encouraging innovators, creators and inventors. The Award seeks to encourage unconventional solutions in all areas of life to meet future challenges, as well as achieve sustainable development goals. "

Al Qasir added: "The Sharjah Innovation Award was launched to enhance awareness about the importance of innovation and its adoption as a way of life, as it is one of the main pillars of the future trajectory of the United Arab Emirates."

Award Criteria and Requirements

Explaining the criteria and requirements of participation in the award, Al Qasir said that the Committee invites participants to apply for the award by visiting its website

Each participant can submit only one project.  Provided all the terms of the participation have been met and the submitted project is complete and ready with a prototype availability, the participant then has to submit a detailed written report of no longer than 5 pages outlining the project in Arabic or in English.  The submission must also include a video presentation explaining the nature and purpose of the project, not exceeding one minute. 

Each project should offer innovative solution(s) to challenges facing individuals, communities or organisations.  The project must be specifically beneficial and useful to the Emirate of Sharjah.   Also, the project should not have been submitted in any other competition or award. 

The results of the Dh 100,000 Sharjah Innovation Award will be announced during the UAE Innovation Month in Sharjah, which will start in February 2020.

The Sharjah Innovation Award celebrates innovation, rare talent and creativity in all areas, and highlights and rewards the latest technological advancements, innovations and services that aim to develop the government work in the Emirate.

The Sharjah Award offers an ideal opportunity for all participating institutions and entities to display their best innovations, services and technologies that help improve the lives of all segments of society, and meet future challenges through innovative ideas.
